A Swedish massage is designed to relax the entire body by rubbing the muscles in long, gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But the benefits of Swedish massage go beyond relaxation. It can help increase the level of oxygen in the blood and improve circulation and flexibility.
A type of massage therapy, deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).1 It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
The Medical Acupuncture approach is based on current concepts of neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, and pathophysiology. It involves a comfortable insertion of small solid single-use disposable needles at relevant points on the body in combination with manual needle stimulation or electrical stimulation.
Medical Acupuncturist relies on a thorough history taking and physical examination in order to determine a proper diagnosis. In general, Contemporary Acupuncture is always integrated with other therapeutic interventions and used either as a first line treatment or as a modality for other treatments. This is dependant on the nature of your problem and on the physiological mechanisms available to your individual case.
Myofascial release therapy is a therapeutic approach that can be used to treat myofascial pain syndrome. It's a hands-on technique that works to relax, lengthen and realign your fascia. The goal is to bring you pain relief, as well as give you back your full range of motion.
Sports massage is manual manipulation of the muscles geared specifically toward helping people who have physically demanding lifestyles and/or hobbies. This kind of therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue groups
During pregnancy it is important to support your changing body. There may be strains and soreness from the extra weight you are carrying and also from the joints starting to relax making the muscles work harder to support them.
After baby is born, it’s important to keep receiving massage therapy as your body is still going through large changes hormonally and physically returning to its original shape. In addition, you are now holding a growing baby and if you are breastfeeding, the position can cause upper back and neck tightness and discomfort.
A TMJ Massage will address jaw pain. Factors that lead to a sore jaw can include: clenching, grinding, physical trauma, stress, posture, and dental work.
A typical treatment focuses on the muscles of the jaw as well as those of the head and neck, as they often have tightness which contributes to the overall dysfunction and symptoms present. Intra-oral work is often indicated as part of the treatment to restore TMJ function and decrease pain.
